MERCEDES-MAYBACH CLASSE S
Need to get from A to B in a cocoon of absolute luxury? Let yourself be seduced by Mercedes-Maybach’s latest addition, the Maybach S-Class. Its unprecedented comfort and new design are its trump cards.
Back to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, which opens a new chapter for the German brand. After the abrupt end of the Maybach 57 and 62, Maybach returns to the hyperluxury sedan segment with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Luxury, calm and voluptuousness are the watchwords for this sedan. Ultra-modern, luxurious, elegant and ultra-comfortable, it offers a unique travel experience.
The grille is slightly modified, with new vertical chrome bars. The Maybach badge is positioned below the traditional small star. The two-tone color shown in the photos is one of the exclusive options reserved for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. We’re told that it takes no less than a week’s work to produce this special tint.
This Maybach boasts a number of new features, as befits a flagship. For example, power-operated rear comfort doors are available as an option. The long rear doors can be opened and closed effortlessly, even when driving uphill. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is equipped with “DIGITAL LIGHT” lighting technology, enabling the projection of road markings or warning symbols.
The interior of this Maybach S-Class is worthy of a Dassault Falcon 8X. A refined wooden shell wraps around the backs of the driver and front passenger seats, transforming them into spacious lounge chairs. Models equipped with First-Class seats feature an attractive decorative wood insert between the two rear passengers.
With active road noise compensation, the already quiet interior of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class enjoys a monastic calm. Like noise-reduction headphones, the system reduces low-frequency noise by using acoustic waves in phase opposition.
The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class benefits from the automatic belt closer already available on Mercedes-Benz coupes and cabriolets. The seatbelt pretensioner provides an indirect incentive to fasten the seatbelt, making it even more comfortable to use. It is no longer necessary to leave a comfortable seating position.
Adaptive rear lighting is also found on the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. It adapts to passengers’ wishes by adjusting the size and position of the light spot.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class inaugurates the second generation of the upgradeable infotainment and control system MBUX for Mercedes-Benz User eXperience. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also features an optional MBUX interior assistant at the rear.
Under the hood, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 combined with a lightweight 48-volt hybridization system. Power is announced at 560 hp. All this cavalry is distributed to the four-wheel drive and steering via a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. This Mercedes-Maybach hyperluxury sedan is expected to sell for around 180,000 euros, without options of course. On the Mercedes-Benz website, not all the Mercedes-Maybach’s options are yet available, such as the designo crystal white/silver-gray pearl upholstery (519A). This upholstery will probably be available from the 2nd quarter of 2021. At Luxe fm, we love this Mercedes-Maybach, but when it comes to choosing between a Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII and a Mercedes-Maybach… the choice is quickly made!
