The Porsche 997 GT2 RS
Porsche press release from 2010: The latest 911 is the fastest and most powerful road sports car ever built in the history of Porsche. With 90 hp more and 70 kilograms less weight compared to the previous 911 GT2, the new 911 GT2 RS achieves a power-to-weight ratio of just 2.21 kg per hp. By far the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. These are the ideal ingredients for an ultra-high-performance sports car with supreme agility and truly fulminant performance on the road. The 2011 GT2 RS perfectly exemplifies Porsche Intelligent Performance, achieving a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of around 5 per cent compared to the previous 911 GT2. The 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine has two turbochargers with variable turbine geometry and transmits its power to the rear wheels exclusively via a six-speed manual gearbox. Equally impressive braking performance is provided by Porsche Composite Ceramic Brakes (PCCB). New tyres specially developed for the 911 GT2 RS in the dimensions 245/35 ZR 19 at the front and 325/30 ZR 19 at the rear ensure cornering behaviour in line with straight-line driving. Extreme cornering dynamics are ensured by the tuning of the springs, Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM), unique anti-roll bars, specific engine mounts and the newly calibrated Porsche Stability Management (PSM), whose stability and traction control functions can be individually switched off. The combined effect of these developments is evident on the race track. The ultimate 911 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, reaches a top speed of 205 km/h and laps the famous Nürburgring-Nordschleife in just 7 minutes and 18 seconds.
