Officially designated as the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, Porsche has created this limited-edition, track-only variant of the GT2 RS Clubsport to commemorate 25 years of Manthey-Racing. Founded in 1996 by racer and the winner of the 1990 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship, Olaf Manthey, Manthey-Racing is often compared to Porsche's "skunk works."
Since 2006, Manthey-Racing has secured victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours seven times, and in 2021, they set the Nordschleife production car lap record with a time of 6:38.835 in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR. Porsche's Director of GT Racing Cars, Matthias Scholz, described their relationship as "closely affiliated," as Porsche has owned 51 percent of Manthey-Racing since 2013. Therefore, it's evident why Porsche decided to honor Manthey-Racing with a special variant of the GT2 RS Clubsport. However, it's not merely a cosmetic restyle but rather a model that introduces groundbreaking technical advancements for privateers interested in track days and circuit racing.
Underneath, it retains the base of the 991-generation GT2 RS Clubsport, featuring a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 690 horsepower, with power delivered exclusively to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK gearbox. Manthey's influence becomes apparent, as the CS 25 draws inspiration from the team's 911 GT3 R racer, affectionately known as 'Grello' among Nürburgring enthusiasts, due to its green and yellow livery.
The front end of the Clubsport 25 underwent a comprehensive redesign to enhance cooling and increase downforce. It includes a sizable carbon fiber splitter and canards on the front bumper for improved aerodynamic grip, along with a centrally positioned radiator for enhanced engine cooling. This configuration also allows the removal of two radiators on either side of the front grille, making room for brake cooling ducts. The deep bonnet vents, inspired by Manthey's GT3 R racer, help direct hot air over the roof and towards the rear wing, while a small central NACA duct provides cabin ventilation. High-performance racing headlights are also integrated into the design. Only 30 units of the Clubsport 25 were produced, each featuring a dash-mounted "25 Jahre Manthey-Racing" numbered plaque.
The Clubsport 25 offered for sale is number 19 of the 30 units produced in 2022. This car has seen limited use by its first and only owner, with just over 300 kilometers displayed on its digital dashboard. Currently fitted with transport wheels and tires, it also comes with a second set of BBS wheels equipped with Michelin slick tires. Both the bonnet and removable steering wheel have been autographed by Olaf Manthey and Porsche factory driver Kevin Estre. This car represents a significant piece of contemporary Porsche and motorsport history and is undoubtedly one of the finest modern racing cars suitable for track days and circuit racing alike.
