Description of the car:

Uncover the legacy of Lamborghini with the Diablo VT Roadster (#2612), a remarkable piece of automotive history. Originally delivered to Lamborghini USA on October 11, 1996, this U.S. market example boasts a unique and rare combination of Nero black exterior and Champagne leather interior.

Distinguishing itself from the Diablo VT, the second-generation Diablo VT Roadster, produced from 1999 to 2000, underwent significant improvements. This iteration featured an upgraded interior, larger brakes, and new fixed headlamp units. The heart of the beast, Lamborghini's 5.7-liter V12, was enhanced to deliver an impressive 529 BHP.

While standard production of the second-generation VT Roadster concluded in 1999, a limited run of 30 Millennium Edition Roadsters emerged in 2000. These models retained the mechanics of the VT Roadster but showcased unique cosmetic alterations and a distinct differential, making them a coveted collector's item.

The Diablo Roadster made its grand entrance at the 1992 Geneva Motor Show, revolutionizing the perception of open-top supercars. The production version, Diablo Roadster VT, debuted in 1995, featuring a removable carbon fiber targa top that could be conveniently stored above the engine bonnet. Lamborghini, known for its scissor doors, reinforced the chassis for the absence of a permanent roof.

Over the next five years, Lamborghini crafted 200 VT Roadster versions, each equipped with a carbon fiber targa top stored above the engine bonnet. The design enhancements included a lowered windscreen, larger air intakes, and new O.Z Racing wheels. The most notable modification was the ingenious redesign of the engine bonnet to accommodate proper engine ventilation and the targa top.

Under the hood, the Diablo Roadster showcased a 492 BHP, 6-liter, DOHC V-12 engine with a five-speed manual transmission. With the addition of a variable valve timing system, the Diablo Roadster achieved a top speed of 208 MPH and accelerated from 0 to 60 MPH in just four seconds, making it one of the fastest open-top cars of its time.

Beyond its speed and performance, the Diablo Roadster initiated Lamborghini's tradition of producing open-top versions of their flagship V12 models. This tradition has persisted in subsequent models like the Murciélago, Aventador, and Reventon, blending rarity, aesthetic design, and high performance—a testament to Lamborghini's enduring legacy.

This particular Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster (#2612) represents a meticulously preserved piece of automotive history, completed on July 8, 1996, with only 4,038 estimated original miles over three owners. Immerse yourself in the allure of this iconic Diablo Roadster, embodying Lamborghini's commitment to excellence.
