McLaren Orlando is delighted to present this stunning Senna Can-Am!
Finished in McLaren Orange over Black Alcantara Interior the Senna Can-Am is 1 of 3 produced. This particular example being the highly desirable Chassis #1.
The Canadian-American Race Series (Can-Am) ran from 1966 - 1987 and gained notoriety for being essentially a race series without regulations. Engine capacity and configuration, aerodynamics etc were all free from the constraints of what is the norm in international motorsport. The 'regulations' stipulated 2 seats and bodywork encapsulating all wheels, so long as safety requirements were met teams were free to develop a car to the limitations of only their own creativity and financial budget. The result of which saw the development of the most feared and powerful motorcars ever created.
Bruce McLaren was a household name in Europe due to his exploits in Formula 1 when he made the strategic decision to display his pioneering car design prowess by entering the Can-Am Series. Designing cars, running his eponymous race team and racing in both Can-Am and Formula 1 concurrently. 1969 was a particular highlight for McLaren with our team winning 11 of 11 races for that season, finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall in the Championship and cementing his place in Motorsport folklore.
The Senna Can-Am is a fitting tribute to the fire breathing monsters of old. Featuring be-spoke bodywork finished in our iconic McLaren Orange these cars also benefit from an uprated powertrain, matching the output of the Senna GTR:
