Mercedes-Benz wanted to pay tribute to Virgil Abloh, the late former artistic director of Louis Vuitton and founder of the Off-White brand, who passed away last November at the age of 41. In agreement with the family of the deceased, the brand has decided to maintain the presentation of the Maybach project in order to salute this project.
This prestigious car, created in partnership with Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz design director, was conceived in 2021, before the death of Mr. Abloh. The teams paid particular attention to customization and craftsmanship, working at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Sindelfingen, Germany.
The vehicle features a two-tone black and sand color combination created specifically for Project Maybach, as well as a special "Mercedes-Maybach Virgil Abloh" logo embroidered on the black lacquered middle of the center console, cushions, headrests and door sill panel. The Project Maybach's transparent hood, equipped with solar cells, gives this electric concept car extra range.
Finally, this limited edition of the S-Class features a user interface with neat visual elements, such as a home button with colored borders and the brand's logo signaling the edition, as well as profile photos embellished with fashion accessories.
