In March 2023 a major service was carried out at Porsche.
Adding to this Mirage GT's allure is its provenance: it's first registered owner was Samuel Eto'o, the Cameroonian football player regarded by many as one of the most talented to play the game and whose achievements include winning a gold medal for the cameroonian football team in the 2000 summer olympics in sydney. After its delivery, the car was registered at his residence in Paris.
Starting life as a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, this car was delivered new to Gemballa and to Mirage GT specifications. Gemballa has built an impressive reputation for modifying Porsches, but even for a car as extraordinary as the Carrera GT, Gemballa turned it into a hypercar without rivals.
Utilizing a bespoke ram air intake system, freer-flowing stainless-stell exhaust with sport metal calatytic converters, and remapped ECU, Gemballa coaxed another 58 bhp from the Carrera GT's 5.7-litre V10 engine, bringing total output to 670 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. A sprint to 100 km/h usually takes 3.7 seconds, leading to a top speed of 335 km/h.
Amongst the 25 Mirage GT's, this example remains even more special, as it is one of just three Gold edition Mirage GT's. These cars remained disctinctive from their brethren than to various gold accents on the rear wing, air intakes and mirrors. The theme continues inside, with various trim on the door handles, instrument cluster, gear shifter, steering wheel and switchgear all finished in gold.
