Engine development

Lexus developed the 4.8-liter 1LR-GUE V10 with Yamaha. Its 72-degree cylinder-bank angle allows evenly spaced firing intervals; the standard LFA is rated at 553 hp, while the Nürburgring Package has a separate output specification.

Carbon structure

The central monocoque is carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer, with removable aluminum subframes at both ends. Carbon composite accounts for 65% of the body structure's material mass, with aluminum making up the remaining 35%.

Transaxle layout

The 6-speed Aisin single-clutch automated manual sits at the rear. A carbon-fiber torque tube connects it to the front-mid-mounted engine, and the radiators are positioned at the rear to help balance mass between the axles.

Production series

The Motomachi production run comprised 500 LFAs, including 50 cars with the Nürburgring Package.
