Overview About This McLaren F1

We are proud to present Chassis 009, one of only 64 road-going McLaren F1s ever built. Finished in Dark Silver over Light Grey with Black interior, this example was the only F1 delivered new to Australia and has covered just 16,900 km (10,522 miles) since new.

The McLaren F1 remains widely regarded as the greatest supercar ever created. Conceived by Gordon Murray and engineered by a Formula 1–calibre team, it was designed without compromise — the first road car to integrate F1 construction principles, a central driving position, and an all-carbon monocoque. Powered by a naturally aspirated 6.1-litre BMW V12 producing 627 hp (468 kW), it achieves 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed exceeding 386 km/h — a record that stood for more than a decade.

This example benefits from two private owners, including a single custodian for the past 20 years. Recently serviced by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), it is accompanied by a complete set of factory-delivered accessories: leather-cased owner’s handbook, original luggage set, Facom tool chest, tool roll, and a limited-edition leather-bound copy of Driving Ambition, the definitive McLaren F1 reference book.

McLaren F1 for sale – History

Launched in 1992, the McLaren F1 redefined the concept of the supercar. Designed by Gordon Murray and built in Woking, only 64 road cars were produced between 1992 and 1998. It was the world’s first all-carbon-fibre production car and remained the fastest naturally aspirated road car for over 20 years.

McLaren F1 production numbers & rarity

A total of 106 McLaren F1s were built, including 64 road versions, 28 racing GTRs, and several prototypes. Chassis 009 is the eighth road car produced, and uniquely, the only one delivered new to Australia — making it a singular piece of McLaren history.

McLaren F1 engine & performance overview

At its heart lies a 6.1-litre BMW S70/2 V12 engine, delivering 627 hp (468 kW) and 650 Nm of torque through a six-speed manual gearbox. Weighing just 1,138 kg, the car’s exceptional power-to-weight ratio enabled unprecedented performance: 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 9.4 seconds, and a top speed of 386.4 km/h verified in official testing.

Its lightweight carbon structure, central driving position, and meticulous aerodynamic balance produce a driving experience that remains unparalleled — combining analog precision with unmatched purity of response.

McLaren F1 collectibility & market potential overview

The McLaren F1 is universally considered an investment-grade automotive icon. With only 64 road cars built, its provenance, originality, and engineering significance make it one of the most coveted collector cars of all time.

Values have risen steadily since production ended, with auction records surpassing $20 million USD for comparable examples. Chassis 009’s originality, low mileage, long-term single ownership, and full complement of factory accessories further elevate its desirability. As McLaren’s first road car and benchmark achievement, its collector value is unmatched in the modern era.
