Overview About This Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupe

We are presenting a Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupe, one of the rarest coachbuilt luxury automobiles of the 21st century. Completed in Baltic Black Unilack (161U) over Exclusive Beige Leather (555A), this example has covered only 12,980 km from new and remains in exceptional condition.

The Xenatec Coupé project was conceived to reinterpret the Maybach 57 S as a genuine two-door grand tourer — a body style never officially offered by Daimler. In collaboration with Maybach specialists and designer Fredrik Burchhardt, the transformation was far more than a simple conversion. The B-pillar was moved rearwards by approximately 20 cm, the roof structure was redesigned, the doors were lengthened and rendered frameless, and the rear fenders were widened to achieve balanced coupé proportions. Only eight vehicles were completed worldwide, each involving an extensive, hand-built reconstruction at factory-level standards.

This particular car was delivered new in 2011 by Mercedes-Benz Berlin before undergoing the Xenatec conversion shortly thereafter. It remained in Germany for several years, later joining a Japanese private collection in 2016, and returned to Germany in late 2025. With its original colour scheme preserved, low mileage, and unaltered 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 612 hp, this example represents a rare opportunity for collectors seeking a final chapter of the Maybach 57/62 era crafted through bespoke coachbuilding.

Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupe for sale – History

The Xenatec Coupé debuted in 2011 after a close engineering partnership between Xenatec and Daimler. While based on the Maybach 57 S, nearly the entire upper body was redesigned to create a luxury coupé that Maybach never produced in-house. Only eight units were completed before both Xenatec’s project and Maybach’s first modern era came to an end.

Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupe production numbers & rarity

Only 8 examples of the Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupe were ever built, far fewer than the originally planned 100-unit run. Each car was constructed with extensive body reengineering, bespoke components, and factory-level craftsmanship. Production data from Xenatec confirms this extremely limited output, making surviving examples exceptionally rare in the global collector landscape.

Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupe engine & performance overview

The Xenatec Coupé retains the mechanical architecture of the Maybach 57 S. Power comes from a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 (M285) producing 612 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Drive is delivered through a 5-speed automatic transmission calibrated for seamless torque delivery and refined long-distance performance.

While straight-line capability remains impressive, the focus of the 57 S platform is sustained comfort and stability. Adaptive suspension, a long wheelbase, and substantial chassis reinforcement ensure that, despite the coupé transformation, the ride quality and dynamic character remain aligned with the Maybach ethos.

The mechanical configuration therefore blends traditional Maybach refinement with the exclusivity of a hand-built body and an altered exterior identity.

Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupe collectibility & market potential overview

The Xenatec Coupé occupies a unique position within modern coachbuilt automobiles. As the final expression of the Maybach 57/62 generation, produced outside the factory yet under technical cooperation, it combines rarity, historical relevance and a strong narrative link to the discontinuation of the Maybach brand in 2012.

With only 8 units produced, the model’s scarcity surpasses many contemporary limited-edition luxury coupes. Market analysis indicates strengthened interest over recent years, particularly from collectors seeking the rarest Maybach derivatives. Provenance, mileage, and originality — all strong points of this example — significantly influence long-term positioning in the curated coachbuilt segment.

This vehicle’s originality, documented history, and low mileage support its standing as an appreciating asset within the sphere of ultra-rare luxury automobiles.
