Following from the success of the F40, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Enzo Ferrari's first car, Ferrari decided to honour the 50th anniversary with another extremely special model, the F50. However, rather than produce around 1,300 units (as with the F40), for the F50 production would be strictly limited to 349 numbered cars.
Although the F50 can be seen as a successor to the incredibly successful F40, the stark contrast between the two cars is instantly recognisable.
The main difference can be seen in the power unit of the F50; a 4.7-litre naturally aspirated F1 derived V12, producing in excess of 500 bhp. Luca Di Montezemolo wanted to create a road car that could offer the most "F1 like" experience on the road, meaning that with its carbon tub and six-speed longitudinal gearbox, the F50 clearly shows its F1 roots.
The example we are offering was delivered new to France via Charles Pozzi in 1996. The car was brought to the U.K. in 2013 and maintains its original luggage, flight case, hardtop, and original books. It is finished in the iconic colourway of Rosso Corsa over Nero seats with Rosso inserts. The car is matching numbers and has been awarded Red Book Classiche Certification from Ferrari, exemplifying its originality and excellence. The car is showing under 14,000 miles and sits today in brilliant condition, with the carbon weave clearly visible through the paint!
