Mission E and J1

The Taycan followed the Mission E concept shown at Frankfurt in 2015 and entered production in 2019. Its J1 electric architecture is shared with the Audi e-tron GT, with an underfloor battery and an 800-volt-class electrical system.

Two-speed rear drive

The rear drive unit uses two forward ratios: a short first gear for acceleration and a longer second gear for speed and efficiency. All-wheel-drive versions add a front motor with a single-speed reduction; the base rear-drive model omits that front motor.

Turismo body styles

Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo add a shooting-brake body. Cross Turismo combines crossover body details with all-wheel drive; Sport Turismo also includes a rear-wheel-drive entry version and omits the Cross Turismo’s off-road styling.
