The tub is carbon fibre, laid up by the Formula 1 department, and the HY-KERS hybrid system stores its energy in batteries under the floor; the active aerodynamics, front diffuser, rear spoiler and underbody flaps, move with the car's speed and load.

Ferrari built 499 LaFerrari coupés at Maranello from 2013 to 2016, the successor to the Enzo and the first hybrid Ferrari. The Aperta followed from 2016 to 2018, 210 cars including the reserved ones, for the marque's seventieth anniversary.
