Naturally aspirated F136

The 458 uses a 4,497 cc F136 V8 with direct injection. Italia and Spider versions are rated at 570 PS at 9,000 rpm; the later Speciale develops 605 PS. The road range uses a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Chassis layout

Double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear axle work with magnetorheological dampers. The E-Diff electronic differential and F1-Trac traction control coordinate how engine torque reaches the rear wheels.

Spider and Speciale development

The Spider introduced a retractable aluminum hardtop in 2011. The Speciale followed in 2013 with revised body surfaces, movable aerodynamic flaps and Side Slip Control, distinguishing it from the standard Italia.
