The Chevrolet 3100 Cameo Carrier was General Motors' first attempt to give a half-ton pickup the polish of a passenger car. Styled under Chuck Jordan, it hid the bed behind smooth fiberglass side panels, borrowed chrome and wheel covers from the Bel Air, and wore a wraparound panoramic rear window. The dealer notes that this 1956 example is one of 1,452 built for the model year. Its provenance stands out: the truck comes from the personal collection of Janet Jackson. It has been restored close to original condition, in black paint with a red cab interior, red-painted bed sides and a wooden bed floor, and it rides on red steel wheels with full Bel Air hubcaps and wide whitewall tires. Chrome taillights from the 1954 Bel Air, chrome bumper guards and an external sun visor complete the look. Power comes from the 265 cubic-inch V8 with a two-barrel carburetor, rated at 155 horsepower, driving the rear wheels through a 3-speed manual gearbox with a column shifter. Steering and brakes are unassisted, as built. The cab keeps its original radio, heater, turn signals and carpeted floor. The odometer shows 190 miles.
