This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is a 2nd Generation Sting Ray, the C2 built from the 1963 to the 1967 model year. It was born a big-block car, and 1965 was the year Chevrolet introduced the 396 cubic-inch big-block and four-wheel disc brakes on the Corvette. The trim tag confirms its original colors: Tuxedo Black, one of 1,191 cars finished in that shade for 1965, over a rarely seen factory white interior. The car has since become a restomod. A new GM Performance Parts LS3 crate engine of 6.2 liters, rated at 525 horsepower by the dealer, runs through a McLeod twin-disc hydraulic clutch and a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual to a 4.56 rear axle, with the heavier big-block half shafts and 1350 joints. Ridetech adjustable coilovers sit at all four corners, and Wilwood 14-inch rotors are gripped by six-piston calipers in front and four-piston units at the rear. The vented Stingray-style hood, Detroit Speed headlight motors, Billet Specialties wheels of 18 and 20 inches on Diamond Back Redline tires, a Stayfast canvas top and a removable hardtop complete the outside. Inside are the original white seats, Dakota Digital gauges and Vintage Air climate control. The odometer shows 151 miles, the same owner kept the car for 7 years, and receipts come with it. Fusion Luxury Motors offers it in Chatsworth, California.
