V6 and chassis development

The 246 enlarged the Dino V6 to 2,419 cc and adopted an iron block with aluminum cylinder heads. Its transverse mid-engine layout drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.

206 and 246 distinction

The 246 has a 2,340 mm wheelbase and a body made predominantly from steel, whereas the earlier 206 used aluminum bodywork and a shorter wheelbase.

GT and GTS production

The fixed-roof GT and removable-roof GTS are separate body versions. Production comprised 2,295 GT coupes and 1,274 GTS cars, with the GTS built from 1972 to 1974.
