The Porsche 918 Spyder was unveiled during the model’s presentation at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010 as a concept, and production began in September 2013. Designed by Porsche’s Weissach engineering division, the 918 was conceived as a limited-production plug-in hybrid hypercar, integrating Formula One-derived KERS systems and electric drive technologies.

Built on a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, the 918 Spyder was intended as a technological flagship, showcasing Porsche’s approach to performance through electrification while remaining fully road-legal and track-capable.

The 918 Spyder is powered by a 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine , derived from Porsche’s RS Spyder race car. This engine alone produces 608 hp, supplemented by two electric motors ,one on each axle,bringing the total output to 887 hp and 1,280 Nm of torque.

Mated to a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission , the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds , reaching 200 km/h in under 7 seconds. Top speed exceeds 340 km/h. Key technologies include regenerative braking, torque vectoring, and five driving modes that balance performance and electric range.
