MCLA carbon architecture

The Artura introduced McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture, replacing the earlier carbon-tub design used by the 570S family. Its rear suspension uses a multi-link arrangement, and an electronically controlled differential manages rear-axle torque.

Hot-vee V6

The 2,993 cc M630 V6 has a 120-degree bank angle, with its two turbochargers mounted between the cylinder banks. An axial-flux electric motor supplements the engine, with power delivered through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Battery and reverse drive

The plug-in system uses a 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery behind the passenger compartment. Reverse movement is provided by the electric motor, allowing the transmission to omit a conventional mechanical reverse gear.
