About the BMW 3.0 CSL

CSL stands for Coupé Sport Leicht: thinner steel, an aluminium bonnet, doors and boot lid and Perspex side windows lighten it against the CS, for homologation in touring car racing.

BMW fitted fuel injection to the CSL from August 1972 and built 939 of this second series until August 1973, 500 of them with right-hand drive; Karmann assembled the E9 coupés at Rheine.
