The G20 saloon weighs 1,800 kg to DIN in this version, and the M Performance models carry the M Sport differential on the rear axle. A straight-six balances itself by its firing order, which is why BMW has kept the layout for fifty years.

The M340d xDrive arrived in November 2020, a year after the petrol M340i, and is the only six-cylinder diesel that M Performance has put in the 3 Series of this generation.
