At its core, the SLS AMG Black Series is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 (M159), uprated to 622 bhp and 635 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a 7-speed AMG Speedshift DCT transmission , allowing for a 0–100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h.

The engine was reworked with lighter internals, revised camshafts, and higher redline. Additional performance components include carbon ceramic brakes, active aerodynamics, and a revised limited-slip differential. The car weighs 70 kg less than the standard SLS AMG.

These results confirm the rising collectability of the Black Series variant, especially for low-mileage units in rare color configurations like Imola Grey.
