The tubular steel frame is the 365 GTC/4's stretched by 200 mm to a 2,700 mm wheelbase, under Leonardo Fioravanti's three-box Pininfarina body in steel with a glass-fibre floor; double wishbones and coil springs sit at every corner, with hydraulic self-levelling at the rear, power steering and discs all round. Of the 1,305 400i built, 883 were automatics and 422 manuals.
The injected 400i took over from the carburettor 400 in 1979, with bodies made by Pininfarina in Turin and assembled by Ferrari, gained a revised interior in a facelift at the end of 1982 and gave way to the 412 in 1985.
The available examples cover model years 1983 to 1984.
