A carbon fibre monocoque with aluminium subframes carries pushrod suspension at both axles; the Roadster adds two removable carbon fibre roof panels that stow in the front boot, a reinforced windscreen frame and fixed roll-over structures behind the seats.

Shown in December 2012 and delivered from 2013, the Roadster followed the LP 700-4 coupé of 2011 and was built at Sant'Agata Bolognese until the S Roadster replaced it in 2017.
